OMC fogging oil in thru the plug holes and take your battery inside AND charge it at least monthly .. using the Right charger (not an automotive charger :)

Move south. Then you won't have to worry about winter at all. ;-)

I got a whole ritual I perform. Cardboard on the floor, filled gas tank, supply line from petcock to carbs removed, petcock outlet sealed with short blocked-off gas line, Armoral festival, WD-40 festival, wax job, exhaust pipe condensation ports probed and shot-up with some WD-40,
vinyl hose run to airbox intake, run engine until it just about stalls from being out of gas -- then, spraying WD-40 into the vinyl hose to keep the engine running for a bit (actually runs pretty good on the WD-40), pull the fuel bowl drains, shoot carb cleaner in there until it flushes, (use a 7-11 Slurpie straw as an extension for the carb cleaner red tube), shoot the fuel bowl with WD-40, put the screws in my special place for them in my toolbox, when its cooled-off -- I spray the top of the exhaust collector with ... (you guessed it) ... WD-40. [I would buy WD-40 Cologne] Pull the battery and store it in the laundry room on a home-brew tender, then I pull the plugs, add however much Marvel Mystery Oil fits in the little black "funnel-things" I steal from the rack where the Doctor hangs his look-in-your-ear" viewer, pop the side cover off, jack-over the engine a couple times, and then I begin to cry for close to five months and three weeks!

Here I am living in an area where riding is usually possible all year round and my bike is still not running.

    Here's two good references:
    Winter Storage 1
    Winter Storage checklist

You can also do a good old Google search for "motorcycle winter storage" and you'll get hundreds of hits that basically are the same as the above.
