I've got an 82 xj650 j running open headers and a stock air filter (it's the way I bought it.) I'm thinking of rejetting the carbs and putting K & N air pods, and I have a short baffle for the header collector. Any thoughts on the rejetting? I've read that open headers and air pods almost necessitate rejetting. Any help/guidance would be appreciated.

I have the same bike and I have seen many many posts on here with people ripping thier hair out in frustration from it. Is there really a benefit to this that is worth the time and aggrevation? I have the stock air filter with just a small restiction at the tip of the muffler and no baffles on a 4-1 exhaust system and she runs like a champ on the stock jets. My advice, research this very carefully and make sure it's worth the headache. Though it may not be want you want to hear, I hope it waqs helpful.
