The weather got pretty mild here in northern Ohio so I was going to ride in to work this morning. I got to the end of my drive and heard the train whistle so I wanted to beat the train across the tracks and I accelerated pretty hard and the next thing I know I'm lookin' up at the sky.

Must have been a combination of cold tires and road grime that hasn't been rainwashed off the street. I went down fast and hard. Thanks be to God I wasn't run over.

Damage; broken blinker, broken windshield, damaged side cover, cracked fairing, scuffed right rear luggage, scuffed clutch lever, handle bars bent (again), sore all over, mad and sad. Oh well, we'll fix 'er up once more.

    Be careful out there.

    Damn.

YOU be careful. Question: cold tires, or did you maybe not check the air before you hopped on and sprinted to disaster?

Glad you weren't seriously hurt. I think it's time to drag up the "Be the Bunny" thread.

I have thought about it. Warm spell here in Kansas. Some are out riding but there is so much sand, gravel and salt on the roads from last weeks snow, I am glad my bike is 'in the shop'. I would not feel comfortable out there right now on my bike.

good thing you didn't spill on the tracks :)

Thanks for the concern guys. I always thought that these kind of accidents were the ones that happened to everybody else. The reason I wrote of my mishap was to let my experience serve as a warning that stuff happens.

Yeah Fitz...be the bunny thread time.

Winston and Polock - yeah and I kinda ended up between the north bound and south bound lanes so I'm glad that I didn't get run over from both directions.

Wiz and Jeff - perhaps dented but still intact is the best way to put it!

I am about 50% back to riding condition. I machined up a piece to fix the broken blinker stem and just have to install it today (waiting for the paint to dry). Scuffed luggage will stay until next winter when I plan to take it down and repaint the whole bike. I had another side cover so that is replaced. Bent handlebars have been straightened again (I do have a spare set in case they ever get bent to where I can't straighten them). I will live with the scuffed clutch lever as a reminder to watch what the heck I am doing. I saved my template for the windshield so I will make a new one Saturday.

Oh yeah, I guess I better check the air pressure in my tires, huh Fitz?!

    OK best wishes everyone.
