Out of curiosity, does anyone know how fast the '83 XJ-750 will go in each gear at red line?

If you are curios, my GSXR will 103mph in 1st gear and power wheelies into 2nd and 3rd. :D

I have got 110Km/hr in second, don't know for the other gears as Mr. Law would not like it at all! One day I hope to go to a drag strip and find out :)

F... wow 8O . I have had my XJ to that speed, once and in 5th ;) .

These new bikes are f...ng amazing, but that would be scary!

@ 100 MPH here, buy buy licence, a day in court, a big fine and several months walking. The 750 is fast enough.

It's kind of hard to tell the speed with a speedometer that only goes up to 85 mph, and I can hit that in second. I never go close to redline with mine the way I ride (never have to) I don't even know what the top speed is with a 750 and I don't plan to find out. I do know it does well over 100 and that's fast enough for me.

20 odd years ago, I once topped out my Seca 750, it felt about 135ish mph and that is the area of it's posted top speed. About 15 years ago I did my stock FJ1200 and it pegged at it's speedo at 165mph, but with speedo error's average being 7 to 10 % it was more like 155mph, and that was the FJ's posted top speed.

On public streets, top speed isn't something I think most smart people will do often as it is quite a risk, little tiny bumps are massive at high speed and it doesn't take much for something catastrophic to happen and kill you. Public roads are always an unknown.

That's why I like the dragstrip, for a quarter mile you can go as fast as you can, with safety people there for "the just in case". 21 years dragracing bikes and I have been down twice, I wouldn't want to think about being in the middle of nowhere and going down.
