So I've got myself deep enough into things that I now need a torque wrench. Most of my sockets are 3/8" drive, but most torque wrenches I see available are 1/2" drive. Does using an adaptor to be able to use my sockets affect the reading?

    Tanks,

However, most torque wrenches that work in the range needed for your XJ (except maybe the axle nuts) are going to be 3/8" drive.

Most stuff is under 50 ft/lb; a lot of the small stuff is in inch-pounds.

The absolute best bet is a 25-250 in/lb micrometer wrench AND a 10-100 ft/lb wrench; both will end up being 3/8" drive.
