Transmission noise

    I have noticed my 83XJ 750 has a sort of high pitched transmission howl it seems to go away when you pull in the cluch so its not motor related I am juessing. could it be the cluch although its not slipping or anything hope its not anything realy bad. any idears anyone.

    If the howl stops when you pull in the clutch. You are looking at a bearing, or throwout in the clutch possibly going bad. Pull the side cover and check out the complete clutch assembly.

    Is it a chirping, whining sound from around 2,500 - 4,500 RPM's
    It's the crank-to-clutchbasket gearset singing to you.
