trany promblem

    i have a 1980 xj 650. the problem is it acts like 5th gear isn't there.

    Does that mean that shifting to 5th seems to go into neutral? Can't lift the lever after shifting into 4?

    Or, does shifting into 5 not lower the RPM much from 4 (normal)?

    i can only lift shift lever about 1/4 of the way up. does not go into a neurtal it just does nothing

    jumping to conclusions here, but i'd venture bent/overly-worn shifter fork or piece of the primary chain guide wedged in there?
