I can not figure how to put on the downpipes and collector on. I am having trouble lining everything up. I have the down pipes unhooked from collector now and still can't get it. Is there a trick to get them on or is it just hard

No tricks...leave everything loose until the entire system is installed. Locate the exhaust pipes and crossover. Locate the two inner headers. Locate the two outer headers. Lay on the ground push up on the collector and wiggle each header to start it in the hole. Continue this process until the headers are fully seated in the collector donuts (it should be a tight fit). Snug the header nuts across all four. Gingerly push up and down on the collector to allow any adjustments to settle. Snug the collector bolts. Snug the exhaust bolts. Torque all nuts and bolts to spec. Hope thos helps.

    1. I put put everything together very loosely, to the point where no bolts are tightened at all, it's rather floppy.

    2. Then I slid the whole thing under the bike with the bike on the center stand

    3. I'm over 6ft tall, so this works for me-- i lay down along side the bike with a foot under a muffler. I can lift the back of the exhaust with the foot as needed. I line up the exhaust pipes with their holes and get the collar nuts just on by a few threads so the front is hanging very loosely in place.

    4. Slide down and loosely anchor the rear collector mount---- if it's a 650maxim you can skip this step.

    5. Loosely install the muffler bolts

    6. Go back to the front and tighten all the collar bolts til almost snug---the lower bolt are still loose to all pipes to wiggle and "rotate" a bit. Then, tighten the lower bolts and finally tighten the collar nuts. That sounds like a lot, but it's really a short process of tightening things evenly, so they stay lined up, that's all.

    7. Tighten the center bolt, if not a 650 maxim.

    8. Tighten the muffler mounting bolts, and muffler clamp bolts

    9. Tight the crossover pipe union if its a 650 maxim

    10. Get on and go for a ride

Don't listen to them. There's probably something wrong with your pipes. I'll buy them off you. :D

The down pipes are numbered and only fit one way.

I think putting on pipes is an art form
or just a huge form of frustration
I think it took me a good hour to get mine on this spring
it is a very frustrating puzzle
but yes loose then slide it all together and tighten
    the only way

Ok I got them on I had the down pipes and collector together but muffler separate. I had a car jack under the collector just to hold it so I could Line up the headers. It was a pain but I did it and it's done
