Riding home from work last Monday I was involved in an accident. Essentially other vehicle lost control and took me out. Bike has cracked engine cases, broken bodywork, turnsignals and bent handlebars. Me I have some roadrash on the knees and a broken patella (knee-cap) ohh and my legs have turned my girlfriends favorite color....PURPLE!!. Looks like I will miss the summer riding season and could be lucky to walk normal again. Will find out more after surgery to hopefully fix it.

Bums me out that due to someone not paying attention, I lose out. Take it easy out there and watch out for everyone. I have been riding since I was 16, I am now 42 and this is the second accident vs car for me. First one was when I was 17. Nice long span without an accident ruined along with a leg and a 28 year old turbo..

Keep it safe guys and gals

That's terrible news. You might well be happier than you think with the way your patella heals, depends on what actually happened to it when it broke. I've broken my right one twice, first time in the mid 70's in college and it's still just fine today.

Glad you're remembering to keep your girlfriend happy with her favorite color...

    Best wishes!

Get well soon bud. Bikes can be replaced, as long as you make it through is all that matters. Good luck to ya.

I wonder if they will stick it to the driver, I would like to see his cell phone records. If he was texting or talking on the cell phone he needs to be held accountable. To me that is just as bad as drunk driving.

Ka1J, I don't know how bad yours was broken but mine is split in two with the split horizontally and thanks to the tendons it's pulled apart by a half inch. Also possibility that it could have shattered pieces. The doctors are going to wire it back together on Thursday.

Yeah I will heal and that will take time, just wish I didn't have to go on disability, I am going to ask the doctor if there is anyway to shorten the time on disability.

Sorry to hear about your accident.

You do bring up an interesting point about checking cell phone records. I never thought of that one before for investigating crashes and accidents.

Best of luck, heal fast and soon!

It's a sad day when one of these bikes is totaled like that but at least you are alive to tell us all about it. Hope everything turns out the best it can for you. Keep us updated on what the doc says.

Ouch! glad to hear you are still in good spirits and breathing. Sad news indeed about you and the bike. Don't push it when it comes to healing fast it is better to heal right. I don't know what you do at work but ask them if there is someyou you can do from a wheelchair or a sitting position. For me that wouldn't work well I work at a body shop. Just a thought.
