it is my understanding that the factory xj turbo has a beefier motor bearings and such
    does not use standard carbs
just keep your throttle wide open you will exceed 9500 rpm redline which is what the top end is based on.

and yes thats a nice setup
    this stats is interesting
    • Carburetion – Turbo
    • Max Power – 84bhp @ 10500rpm (50bhp @ 9000 rpm std XJ550)
    • Torque – 46ft-lbs @ 9000rpm (34ft-lbs @ 7500rpm)
standard xj 550 has more torque at 9000 rpm

And I see by reading the report, it's really definitely not worth doing.... Other than for purely experimental/knowledge-base purposes. Or, the ubiquitous " I wants to try sumpin', that's all...."

The only issue I have with it is the turbo choice. Lag is no longer something that has to be lived with; it can be eliminated.

On an engine this small, you'd have to find a turbo that spools up quickly to avoid lag. I would think something quite small with a high quality bearing.

Supercharger, dual turbo, or multi-vane. The scooters (250cc and below) that I see get turbocharged have virtually no lag, but then they run up to redline insanely fast.
