Went to fix the problem with my front left turn signal (blinker works, but not the running light), and found that the PO had an incorrect bulb in there. Got he correct double-filament bulb, and it wouldn't fit. After scratching my head for about an hour, I notice the little lock nubs on the bulb are off-set, while the cutouts in the socket are parallel. So, the socket is not built for that bulb. I also noticed that there are two contacts on the bottom of the bulb, but only one contact plate in the socket. Uh-oh... So, I checked the other light, and sure-nuff. The left has an aftermarket, non-standard socket.

I didn't see a socket in Chakal's catalog. Is it possible to find them? Or do I have to cough up $30 for a replacement light?

The socket itself is very common. Every auto parts store in the world has them.

You might have to get creative mounting them though. On my 650Max they were clamped down by a short strap and trivial to replace.

Is it suppose to have running lights? You really don't need them they will just tax an already over taxed electrical system

OK. I'll check the local Autozone. I'll need to change out the wire, too, since that socket requires three wires instead of two. The socet itself is threaded through the stem into the light and held in place by a thick rubber plug. Won't be difficult to replace, once I get the wires disconnected. I just didn't know if I could find a replacement socket, or if I'd have to buy a whole new light.

The XJ700X does have front running lights. I thought of just leaving it, but that means I have a right side running light and that just looks weird. I'd run into the same problem by changing the right to match the left. So, I figured I'd just try and get it working the way it was intended.

I'll see what I can find. Thanks for the recommendation!

Jvswan, it sounds like someone used the rear turn signal up front. The front signals should be using an dual filament bulb (two contact w/offset bayonet lugs) while the rear turn signals used a single filament bulb (single contact w/parallel lugs). Check the rest of your signals to see if they got swapped. Otherwise you can make the modification with a socket replacement kit available from most well stocked automotive stores.
