i have a signal light problem
all of them blink when i turn on one direction
what i want to do is bypass the wiring harness and make an independent signal wiring circuit
i am semi new at this
and i am assuming the third prong on the signal relay i bought is a ground
here is my crudely drawn diagram(see attachment)
    i apreciate your feedback
if my diagram wont work can anyone help me with one that will work
    edit:
ok so the image is in my galley sorry bout that

go to search/forums on the left and type in "schematic".... it'll pull a few of them up... blinkers are tied into other things

Many years ago I'm on the back of my dad's bike. He's approaching a side street and there's a car sneaking out a bit, so he slows up a bit.
So the car sneaks out more- dad slows more- the car pulls right out!
A brief shouting match ensued. Turns out dad had his right blinker on.

I think Yamaha's self cancelling turn signals have prevented countless wrecks over the years, and I would advise anyone to repair the system you already have.

Probably not. The third prong is usually for the turn signal indicator light on the dash. Flashers aren't usually grounded independent of the circuit but are placed in series with the turn signal bulbs.

The problem we're going to have right off the bat is which flasher did you purchase? Not all flashers are created equally. There should be a number on it. This will tell me which pin-out it uses. That is, if you look at where the spades stick out of it, there's letters associated with them (e.g. X, E, L). Those indicate how to hook it up. I have a flasher book at work with basic turn signal circuit diagrams in the back of it. If I knew which flasher you were using, I could provide you with the correct schematic.

I'm going to respectfully disagree. The third pin on the stock relay is the input line from the self canceling unit that de-energizes the flasher solenoid (ergo the self-canceling feature). It does not rout to the indicator panel. I'm working on determining exactly what it does internal to the flasher relay at the moment. More details to follow pending investigation.

You're correct if we're talking about the stock flasher. But bpharoah47 said, "i am assuming the third prong on the signal relay i bought is a ground". Is it a stock relay he bought? Maybe, maybe not. That's why I asked him to identify which flasher he purchased.

Unfortunately, the catalogue I referenced in my previous post has been replaced by a newer and more useless version. In their infinite wisdom, CARQUEST decided to not put the wiring diagrams in the new version. The old catalogue is MIA. So sad, too bad.

I humbly abase myself Gamuru, I missed the "I bought" part.
It has been my experience that the latest "replacement" 3 prong relays have a ground, an input from the switch and an output to the light circuit. As to what all the pin assignments are, you've got me too. Some of the packages of the three I purchased had an explaination but it didn't translate easily to Yamaha wiring harness specs. I burned out two of them just trying to get the system operational before I realised what was going on with the circuit. I have since repaired one of the flashers (it used an older chip, easily available cheap) and have gone to installing the oldie-but-goodie two prong flasher relay. No problems anymore.
A small note is that the three pin relays are darn near useless on our two wire setups which use the inputed switch voltage to switch right over to the light circuit. No ground needed (except at the other side of the bulb).
