I rebuilt my brother an 82 650 Maxim a couple of summers ago. He called and said he had it out riding a couple days before Christmas. When he got home he parked it for a bit before putting it away. When he went back out there was a big puddle of oil under it. He pushed it into the garage and and tried to see where it was coming from, but couldn't find the leak. He said it has not leaked anymore, but he hasn't started it since. And it appears that there may be no oil left in it. He hasn't been able to look at it more cause it snowed the other day and its been ridiculously cold.

Anyone else have this happen on these bikes? Any ideas?

Well, check the underneath the bike on the bottom side of the engine. Check oil filter casting to make sure that there isnt a crack in it. Also look to see if maybe the drain bolt is loose.

You're more likely to notice it if you go over and check it.
