Hi guys, im just wondering if a new UNI filter would affect my Stock 85 700 Maxim in any way Jet wise. I need a new one, just trying to figure out whats the best one out there for stock. There is also HiFlo ones also or K&N. Which is preferable for Stock or closest to stock airfilter?

hi backblast...Go with UNI filter (foam) It is a stock replacement hence no rejetting needed and is value for money. Downside of paper filter you cannot reuse with exception of KN but this unifilter you can use the filter cleaning oil and reoil and use again n again...till the bike dies on you..!!
I hav installed one on my 1986 XJ700 Maxim (air cooled)this spring and runs like a charm...am going to install same one on my Maxim X very soon as its filter is dirty too. Trust me No regrets. Good luck
Check its details at below link ..

I would double check your plugs after installing the UNI filter as my bike started running a tad bit on the lead side. This is only a problem as I needed it to ride many highway miles so I went with a stock paper one.

I'm putting the UNI filter back in though as it is reusable and gives me a tad bit of noticeable power gain.
