Had a flat. Very small hole from a staple. Used Slime to seal it. Warning on Slime bottle about potential tire imbalance vibration over 45 mph. I can feel some vibration at 85mph. Any feelings on the use of Slime to fix a flat?

Now SOMEBODY has to dig that crap out. Your dealer will probably refuse to do it. Happy digging. There are dealers here refuse to fix gflsts no matterr how small the hole or where it is located. Too much risk you know. The will, however sell you a new tire..... And they will only charge you $25 to mount and balance it. Nice..

Slow speed applications it works fine. I also use it in my rider mower, wheelbarrow and bicycle tires. Still a freakin' gooey mess when you fially have to dismount a tire.

Plus, if the seal fails on the lawnmower who cares! 1/2 of your tires goes quickly flat at 65 mph and you might wind up attending your own funeral.

I use Slime in tubed off-road bicycle tires and it has been a godsend in the land of sandspurs.

I have a can of fix-a-flat in my MINI simply because it doesn't have a provision for a spare tire, but after my friendly local tire guy showed what they have to go through to repair or replace a tire after that crap has been installed, I would be extremely hesitant to use it. It's for absolute emergencies only. I also had a can's nozzle fail on me once when I was on the way to a job interview and sprayed me in a suit, the wheel, and the side of the car. I was able to get it off the car's fender okay, but because of the brake heat, the wheel's finish was ruined. My suit was never the same either. Had to use my tie to wipe it off my face and hands.

As stated by others it's a mess to get out.

It also pits the aluminum wheels. When the bead face on the wheel gets pitted it's tough to get a bead to seal. Then you are in for lots of sanding and polishing.

Finally, it hides tire damage. Little problems become unnoticed until they grow into big, catastrophic problems.

IMHO - in an emergency, you have to get home. Have it changed out ASAP. Tell the poor SOB that's doing it the crap is in there, never fun to have it fly out in a surprise. Make sure every bit is cleaned off the wheel before the new tire is mounted.

I work at a tire service shop The worst thing a person can do is use that stuff but if you intend to replace the tire then use it as a TEMPORARY fix. See slime and fixaflat has chemicals that weakens the rubber and could cause more problems than you need.
