I have a Vetter fairing, Windjammer SS, that I am attempting to install on my 750 Maxim. I am starting with a Honda mount. Looks close right now. When I put the fairing on the mount the front forks don't hit the mount but the mirrors hit the windshield. Any one know how high up the mount has to be mounted on the bike frame ? Any other help, tips, info, dimensions, measurements would be greatly appreciated.

You need the XJ750 Maxim mount.

Thanks for the reply Dave. I understand the "easy" way would be to get an XJ 750 mount. I am having a hard time finding that particular mount. I do know there are people on the forum that have 750's with the right mount. I was hoping for some pics, and or dimensions so I could fabricate a mount that would fit.

You can use the 750 honda mount with some modifications.

    1. Remove the four small pieces of half pipe mounting tabs.
    2. Get four big hose clamps, and clamp the mounting bracket to the frame of the bike. adjusting for location.
    3. Mark mounting bracket where it touches the frame.
    4. Make new, or reuse the halfpipe mounting tabs, and weld tabs back onto the mounting bracket. (You might be able to spot weld these on while holdng the mounting bracket in place with the hose clamps)

Note: The XJ bracket used a crossbrace across the rear hoop of the mounting bracket that bolted through the holes in the top of the frame. The same area as the oil cooler mounting.

You can get a rough idea of the frame mounting location here.
Approx 2/3 the way down the page. The mount itself is in the lower right corner of the 6th picture

This is for the OEM X-1 fairing. I have this mount, and can get detailed measurements for you if you would like to rework the mount you have to that style.

Thanks Ghost, your info and pics are great. The two dimensions that I really need are.
From the "cross brace" how high does the fairing sit. I have the cross brace as high as it can go and the fairing still looks a bit low.
Again from the Cross brace, how far forward or aft of, fairing mount, center does the fairing sit.
I am picking up on both the 'oil cooler" mounting and the horn mounting. I guess if you are willing, what angle does the frame sit.
    Thanks again

I will get everything dug out and get some pics, and measurements for you as soon as I can get a chance.

In the mean time check out Craig Vetter's site. You find all the info you will ever need about the vetter fairings.

Yes I have been on the Vetter site. Lots of information. If you could measure the "vertical" tubes that would be great. So for my fairing is sitting low. Not sure how to raise it yet.
