Hot Crap! am I excited. I think to tomorrow may be the day! I called in sick to work (I have that kind of a job and i don't have to feel guilty) to take the kids to swimming lessons, so maybe later I can get out and finally fire it up. My maxim i feel has had enough time off. I can't wait for the first ride off the season.
Its cold still in saskatchewan, and we had damn near a blizzard over the weekend, but today it warmed up to a balmy +1c., and all the snow is gone from the streets. Two weeks ago it was +20 or something for a few days, but all the regular family guy stuff got in the way of working on my bike. Also I heard the city put down 50,000 tons of sand over the winter so I'm reluctantly waiting until the sweepers clean it up.
I got my maxim last year (a gift from dear old dad) with a horrible homemade yamaha flame/crap thing sprayed on the tank, and I just couldn't handle the yambarrasment any longer, so the tank came off and got fast sanding, and then a flat black treatment until i can decide what i want to do with it. now i've got my battery charged and ready, so tomorrow I'll see if I can ignite the 5 month old gas, or drain everything. I'm such a dope to park it full of gas, but these things happen. At least i spent the time riding. by the first week in november it was -5 or -8 or so in the a.m. and i got to ride until it snowed but hot damn was that cold. I'm looking forward with enthusiasm the much the same treatment this week!

I would drain the old gas and use it in my lawn mower. Fresh gas will help that bike fire up after a long winter.

I don't think you were a dope at all to park it full of gas. I deliberately do that to reduce the tank air (and chances of upper tank rust), though I do put in gas additive to dry and stabilize.

Being a coward I don't use my drained gas even for the lawn mower. I put it in a gas can to use for later parts rinsing, etc.

    Happy Riding!
