Looking for a good engine for my 1982 Seca XJ750R. I

'm in Lansing, MI and am really stuck. I just put 400.00 into my bike's front end and the 1st day back on the road, the engine started clattering a fearsome amount.

I would consider rebuilding/repairing, but I live in an apartment complex now and haven't got the space to get that involved.

A swap is the only option for me.

    Anyone?

Sounds like a bathtub rebuild is in order. I have never rebuilt a turbo 350 in a bath tub befor. E-bay had a engine or two on it. I believe a engine from a 700 will fit nicely. More power too. Just need the cdi and charging system also. Its worth looking into.

Just a touch. about 8 more horses. My 700 will run circles around the 750. Just remember you will have to change the ignition box as well as the cdi box. Haven't seen it done but have heard about it. Sounds like a good bolt in mod to do. If a 700 engine could be had. Complete with carbs. There are pros and cons to both. Just figure out which one to do and stick with it. Good luck. Hope you find and engine soon.

CDI and ignition box? Do you mean the regulator and CDI or am I missing something?

Same thing, different name. Definately the igniton box and possibly the regulator. I am not sure how much the 700 charges over the 750. May be the same the same part but not entirely sure. Better safe the sorry. It may take a bit of rewiring but the end result would be sweet.

Well it just so happens that the local salvage has a low mileage one here...I just may inquire about how much he wants.
