Did a quick search about chokes and rpms but most people are asking what went wrong with their carb cleaning.

I haven't touched anything on my bike (yet) but I was wondering what is a normal rpm range for letting your bike warm up with the choke on full? My bike jumps to about 3500 which seems pretty high so I usually back the choke off to about 2000-2500. This leaves the choke about 1/4 open.

I'm not a mechanic so when I say "open" I just mean how far I have it cranked from the starting position.

2 to 2.5 is about right, 3 at full ain't bad either
at full on mine sputters a little from too much fuel, so i back it off to around 1/2 maybe less
hows it run after it's warm

I'd say you are doing the right thing, as the revs rise, back off the choke.

    Thanks.

It runs very well. If I hop on it and open the throttle quickly it will hesitate but only the very first time. After that, flawless.

Can I adjust the choke cable so that full open does rev it so high?

Yep. In the middle of summer, my '81 needs only about 1/3 "choke" to start and warms up almost immediately.

I usually keep easing the choke off to hold the motor around 2500-2Krpm if I bring it down too far when cold it stumbles. You've got it right.
