I have a thread up concerninthe fuel sensor. I have a n 82 xj 750j and am new to the whole wrenching thing so I will appreciate any and all help. Can anyone tell me where the fuel sensor is physically located?? I also am curious about cold morning stasrts. I have cleaned the carbs and had someone adjust the valves but I saw in the forum someone had a similar problem and it was withthe starter brushes. Is this a common problem? Thanks again.

you know what i have had to do with my bike with sensors acting up like that is to follow the wire harness from the sensor to where it plugs in usually in the head light bucket, and clean the connections with green scotch bright then pinch the female end slightly then reseat the connections. this has worked on the brake sensor and the turn signal.

i believe the sensor in the tank is on the left side near petcock. on mine it goes from there to a connector near fuse box under seat. when i unplug it it says im out of fuel.
