Been trying to wet set my floats and can't seem to get it to work out. My adjustments seem to hardly make any difference. Sometimes I think I got one where it needs to be, adjust the others, then the good one is off and the others show almost zero change. On carbs 1,2,3 the tang arm is almost flush with the bracket that holds the floats.

I put in new needles and seats. Carbs cleaned (didn't break the rack though). All the needles seem to be moving freely. Any thoughts?

Also, at first I was using my tank as a fuel source, but sometimes the gas wouldn't flow. Petcock was on prime, and if I pulled the fuel hose off gas would pour out, put the hose back on and the flow stopped. Maybe my gas cap vent is plugged?

UPDATE: It seems the #3 carb is giving me the most trouble, no matter how much I adjust the tang arm the fuel level remains the same. Can't imagine what would cause this...maybe fuel inlet passage partially clogged?? Seems unlikely considering it's only about three mm lower than what it needs to be.

First set the float heights to factory specs using a float gauge. If you don't have one make one out of a piece of then metal. I made mine out of a piece of scrap aluminum. Mine is made for a XJ700n so your specs are probably different, but someone on here can give it to you if you don't have. it. See this link: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=37364.html
I had problems with the wet set also, and finally went back and set the floats with my gauge and found them off a good bit. After setting them by the gauge the wet measure was in spec. If after setting the floats with a gauge, the wet check is out very much, look for some other problem. Be absolutely sure the carbs are level, front to back and side to side. Also, be sure there are no air bubbles in the tube or that will cause a bad reading.
