I have searched the forum and havent found much about clutches. My clutch is grabbing when its cold when the bike is in gear and dying. I dont see any adjustment in the cable like my R1 has. My clutch looks really worn but isnt blue. What does a good clutch run and who should I go with?

    Thanks,

    Steve

I took tolerances tonight on my friction plates and they vary 3.0 to 2.9. 2.8 is the standard for replacement. I cant believe nobody knows of a good clutch for this bike.

Thats what I am asking really. I want to know if oem is the best replacement for longevity and function. Some yamaha oem clutches slip quickly if they are abused, and some aftermarket clutches dont last long if they are abused. Just thought I would ask. Not a lot of response.

We don't know what bike you're referring to or how many miles are on it, etc.

The Yamaha OEM clutch works quite well, as do the "aftermarket" parts that chacal carries, they're made by K & L.

My '83 Seca 550 has a clutch that's made up of OEM plain plates (original, resurfaced with Scotchbrite) K & L friction plates (from chacal) and OEM springs. It works just fine and didn't cost an arm and a leg.

OEM or stock aftermarket should work fine; be sure you replace the springs and to be safe, the bolts.
