Just curious what is the difference between 650 maxim and 750 maxim. I have started gathering the parts i need to make my 83 perfect. Only part of the bike that is not is the fender. The former owner said he backed his trailer into it when he was putting his mower away. There is a dimple on the front can'y have that it only has 3400 and change miles. All the ones i have been seeing on ebay have little rust spots.

The same fender was used on both bikes.

I'm misremembering, dangit. The 65o and 750 fenders have a different profile, but they can be interchanged.

The only real thing i noticed was the 650s where the fender bolts up to fork tube the fender its self was not cut out like the 750 and was painted black behind the fork tube which does not bother me at all thanks

    From my cryptic notes:

    Front Fender Interchange info:

XJ550 Maxim and XJ650 Maxim/Midnight Maxim are the exact same fender (beside color/finish).

XJ550M / XJ650M-MM and XJ750 Maxim fenders will interchange, but are a bit "taller" (further away from the fender mounting holes) than the XJ650 Seca style fender (about 1/2 - 3/4" taller). (NOTE: unfortunately I am no longer sure whether the "taller" bit refers to the XJ550/XJ650 or the XJ750 fender........although I would assume it's the 750 fender).

XJ750 Maxim / Midnight Maxim and XJ1100 fenders are virtually identical; the XJ1100 fender is approx. 1" longer to the rear, and the radius coming off the fender mounting stanchion is slightly greater on the XJ1100. Otherwise, identical.

XJ550 Seca and XJ650 Seca are the exact same fender, besides color/finish.

The XJ750 Seca fender is the same as the XJ550 Seca / XJ650 Seca fender, but it has an additional slotted opening underneath the main triangular opening. Other than that, they're the same.

XJ650 Turbo fenders are the same size and height as XJ650 Seca fenders.

XJ700 fenders attach completely different than all others, as do the XJ900K fenders, neither of which will interchange with anything else.

Take a close look at the forks. Some have "leading" axles (the axle is mounted to the front of the lower legs) most of the Secas have the axle mounted at the very bottom of the fork.

The general rule of thumb (height be damned) is that the "leading axle" fenders will reasonably match, as will the fenders from forks with the axle directly at the bottom. What they won't do is interchange between the two styles without looking goofy.
