I am going to take apart my 1986 maxim x xj700 and was wondering what Haynes manual to get. I searched for it, but I could not find one for the 700.

    Thanks :D

Hey Maximlady, by taking apart, do you mean down to the frame, or just some maintenance work? By all means get a manual or two as some suggest, but just curious about the "Taking apart" bit.
I took mine apart, it looked like this:

I don't believe anyone's done an "aftermarket" manual for the Maxim "X" series; you probably need to start looking for a factory book.
