Hey Guys, does anyone know off hand what size tap is required for the Master Cylinder on a 83 maxim 400 xs? I was taking off the cover last night and the screw just came straight out :x . The screw goes in fine on the other side, so I'm guessing it's the threads are striped inside the MC. Any help would be great!
    Cheers, Mac

If the screw goes in the hole and doesn't grab a tap won't help you.

You will need to use an insert or go to a slightly larger fastener.

A couple of mine were stripped but only to a short depth, chased the threads to clean them out and used a LONGER but still correct screw.

I'm at work, bikes at home and its' MINUS 4F here at 5:22pm so I may not get into the garage until tomorrow but I can look up the thread size for you then if no one else beats me to it...

The MC on my 650 and 750 take M3 screws. Different style heads, but both are M3s.

(Hopefully yours are the same and it will save fitz from freezing his fitzes off.)

EDIT: I stand corrected. They are M4 screws. The ones that go into the blinker lenses are the M3s. My bad...
