what temp is fan supposed to turn on?

    I took my bike for a long ride today and was in the city going stop light to stop light. I noticed the bike was running hot and was keeping a close eye on it. My fan would not turn on until the temp gauge just about hit the red. Is this normal?

    Yes, that is normal

    I believe it comes on at 195 deg. Too bad the temp gauge doesnt have degree markings!

    The fan on the Maxim-X does turn on late...that is, when it hits the red temperature zone. It should however cool the bike quickly assuming it's working properly. Some owners have installed switches to override or bypass the temperature sensor as they like to keep the bike cooler.

    And, I have to admit it I've thought about doing that myself. By the time it hits the red zone by butt has just about roasted.
