What weight oil in a 1982 750

    My son bought a 1982 750 Maxim. Does anyone know what weight oil he should use when changing . He does have a manual coming but until then he'd like to change oil

    I think most folk use 10w40 but it should be for wet clutch applications and not standard car oil - JASO MA will be written on the tin if it' s good.

    I use Shell Rotella 15/40 and have not had any issues.

    I use Valvoline 10W40 Motorcycle oil.. Autozone, Advance auto both carry oil.

    Choose the weight of oil that meets the needs of your riding conditions (ambient temperature). Otherwise just make sure (as mentioned above) that it is JASO MA rated.
