A co-worker is wanting to buy a Kikker 5150 Hardknock 200cc bike. Does any one here have any experience with these or advise? If you don't know what I'm referring to, here's a link.http://www.bobbertime.com/

    After reading the link - - http://www.bobbertime.com/

    And just MY opinion;
Your friend should get down to the local DMV and see if they will title this thing before buying it.

I'm guessing the 200 makes 15 HP and is made in China.

Foot clutch standard? I wouldn't want that in traffic.
    $2,300 + ?? + build it yourself - - would buy TWO running 650's

yeah I'm with Time about the built in china and title issues.

Your friend could get a running 550 and make it look like one of those for abotu $2,300.

That's exactly what I told him,but he's young and thinks these bikes are cool. I told him he could buy a new 250 Virago,Rebel,Suzuki or older 650-750 for near the same amount. I was wondering if anyone knew of any negative issues with the Kikker bikes other than DMV. I believe they are street legal in all states, but not sure about highways and not sure if its a good idea to take on the highway.LOL

    Frightening.

Scary junk for too much money, and the shady "ordering process" is questionable at best.

    PASS.

I've quit taking Chinese bikes in the shop. The quality control is terrible and I'm worried I'll get sued when one falls apart on the road.

hay now the man takes trades, i'd go a Xbox with some games and a old push mower, even up, maybe even kick in some old tires and some used 20w50 oil and a bag of grass clippings just to keep him happy

Who'd want to pay 3000 to a shady dealer for a MINI bike kit? I could buy 2x of my XJ750's and extra carbs for that much...

i see a lot of slightly used ones for sale on craigslist, wich tells me they are disappointing to the people who bought them so they are unloading them.

I would have your co-worker friend look thru the photo gallery here so he can see what can be made with a used xj and some time and few bucks.
Chances are even if he does buy that Kikker, he will end up wanting to change something on it anyways and good luck finding aftermarket parts for something like that. That means more money or fab time... either way doesn't sound like a deal to me....

    my 2 cents...

P.s. I find my 400cc bike a bit small but can still handle highway speeds adequately... i wouldn't want a 200cc anything...

Good news, my co-worker decided against the Kikker and will probably start looking for a older bike to bob.

i heard they have quite a few lawsuits on 'em, and their quality control is lacking.

and if i'm paying that much for 200cc's it better be an old triumph or something.

That IS good news.... I watched one of their vids and I GUARANTEE those 'bikes' are gutless wonders and your friend would have been VERY disappointed in it's performance. The more I look at their site, the more these things look like a death sentence on wheels...

I noticed a lot of nice custom work on the site but thought, what a waste. Why spend the time and money on something that will have to be rebuilt in 2 years and still will be a little piece of crap?
