Well I think it is time to replace the clutch on my 81 XJ750R Seca. Where is the best (aka cheapest) place to get one? I am thinking of replacing the fiber disks and springs, if the metal disks are not too much more I will replace them too but otherwise I will hold off and hope mine are still good.

Denniskirk has the EBC Fibers and springs for $75 +$6 shipping, can anyone else beat that?

You'll get what you pay for.

Before you jump on the cheapest clutch you can find ... consider getting a better one backed-up in writing and proven to be able to handle everything you'll ever throw at it by testimonials of real knee-dragging guys who spend hours near red-line deliberately trying to destroy them!

Thanks, I saw that yesterday and will bid but with ebay I figure it is nice to have a backup plan :? .

That is why I want to shy away from the generic ones on ebay that are "made overseas" but then there is no brand given. I don't need the best quality clutch now as I am a cheap college student but I would like to get a few years out of it.

My EBC clutch plates and HD springs from the local dealer are working just fine, and totally eliminated the slip i used to get when boost came on. Now the rear tire breaks loose, not the clutch.

Try: http://www.hvccycle.com/ for Good pricing and genuine service on EBC and Ferodo clutch disks. I got the Ferodo Well worth the $60 price. Just Ask Brad, he will oblige.
Barnett clutches are either hated or loved.. and reputedly the loved ones are in the minority :) You will ONLY need to replace the OEM steel plates if they are genuinely warped.. try them on a 'flat' surface.. Note the Oem steel plates are the V best you can get.. substitutes are not.

Yep ... I'm on my second set of Friction Pads in the Old 900 ... but, still running the Stock Drivers.

I really give the clutches hell, too. I push the 900 right to the limit a lot; and do some extreme engine braking when I'm out on Sunday playing Fighter Pilot atop the dog house. (Call sign: Snoopy)

Then, there are the moments when I do my own "Play-by-play" for imaginary race course outings. "Massey's in third place and is going to have to find the limit on this machine if he's going to make-up the second and a half behind the leader."

Northern New Hampshire highway clover-leafs have "A line" to hang-in too where the kids on plastic-wrappers play the same game ... but, much faster and a whole lot farther-over than this old man is willing to try.

Now I have NO clutch on the 900; because "Evie" got pissed at me for shelving her for the Max. She made the clutch cable break just when Fall Foliage is about to Peak.

I'm heading for a bicycle shop, Saturday ... for some new cable and I'm building me a new one.

    Rock-on you Zany XJ-er's

It's starting to get real nippy, up here, near Boston. Indian Summer is this weekend, looks like ... and, I'm going on a leaf peeping ride!
