Hi all, so in every picture and write up I've seen there are two brake discs up front, but I only have one! It's on the right side if you're sitting on the bike. It doesn't look like there ever was one on the other side - no brake line, just nothing. Any ideas?

Got any pictures? XJ650 Maxims only have one brake disc too, but it's on the left.

On the left side fork slider, is there any provision for mounting a caliper?

I'll see if I can take some tomorrow, but since it's supposed to snow all day I don't know if I'll be able to. Also, just peeked out the window and I'm an idiot, brake is indeed on the left. Could someone have swapped in a 650 front end?

    • My bet is that someone swapped out the forks from a xj550rj seca.

the 550 seca has the brake on the right side and the upper tubes are only 35mm. I'm with kdub, I think it's a 650 front end. my 83 750 maxim has the double front brakes.

CN.... He said the brake is on the right. 650 is on the left. I've had 750 secas come in here w/: 550rj fronts, 750 maxim fronts, an xz550 front, and even a 400rj front.

I'm standing with what I originally posted.

550rj front, probably swapped the triple clamps too
