Most of the time my starter button works fine, but every once and a while i will push in and get nothing. Then I wait a few seconds after it does not work and it works fine. What could be the problem here?
    Thanks

It could be a few things first thing that comes to mind is a dirty starter button. So that would be not a very good connection in side there and possibly causing the intermittent start.

these starter buttons are notorious for breaking off or just stop working. A lot of ppl change them out for different ones, or just put a starter switch somewhere else on the bike.

My Midnight's starter button broke off and fell out. I saw that the retention ring/lip had broken off the thing.

I am an electrical contractor and am fortunate enough to have several size wire nuts in stock. I cut a correct sized ring out of an orange nut (color-coded by size), pressed it onto the button and glued it where the retention ring had broken off. Note, this is a hard, not soft and flexible wire nut.

I took the switch assembly apart and installed my repaired button the other day. I also lightly sanded the contact surfaces as I had also experienced the delayed start syndrome as mentioned by others.

    So far so good.

I will admit that I have doubts it is a long term fix, so I ordered a new starter switch from Chacal (along with some other much needed brake items).

    Anticipating my parts delivery soon.
