Does anybody know if it will require major modifications to fit an 82 550 onto an 82 650 frame? Or will it be so much bigger (the 650 frame) that it will look ridiculous. My 550 frame is cracked and bent in numerous locations, and I can get a pretty good deal on a 650 frame.

It would be a very significant undertaking because that 650 frame is shaft drive. Your 550 is chain drive.

You'd have to transplant the swingarm. Lots of places you could have challenges mating it up to the frame. Then the brakes wouldn't be right so you'd have to tackle the linkages.

And, if the engine doesn't sit in the frame right you'll have problems with chain tension on suspension travel.

Thanks for the advice. I guess I'll keep looking.
