Will a starter off a 1980 XS 850 Triple fit an 83 750 Maxim?

    Are the starters somewhat specific or more universal?

    Comparing the two via Yamaha's online parts fiche, it sure doesn't look like it. The XS starter appears to have mounting bolts at either end; the XJ starter has two at one end only. Plus, if one believes the folks over at Wisconsin Cycle Salvage, the starter off the triple will only fit on the 750/850 triples.
