under the tank by the coils of my 81 xj650h, there is a single wire coming out of the wiring harness with a ring connector on the end. for some reason this is not connected to anything. the bike is far from running, so i dont know if it effects anything from starting. there is not mwire to work with, and the only thing it can connect to, due to length, is the coils somewhere. where is this supposed to be connected?

If it's a black wire it should be with one of the bolts holding your coils on. It should be negative.

yeah, its black. thats kinda where i thought it would go, but wanted to be sure. i thought it should be a ground, but not all the wiring is original-so i wasnt sure i could trust the coloring. thanks
