Good point, this should be a sticky. Have you found something specific?

I've only found extra wiring, not incorrect wiring on both my 750 and 900, which I think is for options offered in other markets or for police specials or the like. There were a couple of incorrect wire colors on devices plugged into the harness but the harness itself has been correct (so far).

no, i haven't found anything incorrect, other than PO's work. i'm getting ready to dive into the harness and wanted to have all the right info beforehand. like i said, just bits and pieces in forum posts here and there. i forgot to bookmark some of them so now i can't find them. i'll start bookmarking any i see and compile them into one post.

I seen just a handful of places in the Haynes manuals where lines cross that should join, or join where they should cross. For the most part they're quite accurate. Not sure about the factory manuals, though... don't have any Yamaha ones.

I'm in the process of making some color versions of the diagrams and discovered one error just yesterday. This is for the 750K and MK. If you look in the Haynes manual on page 269, notice the connector on the left of the diagram for the Tachometer Meter Light and Tachometer. The connector is labeled for the colors Blue(L), Black(B), Brown(Br) and Gray(Gy). The wire coming out of the connector for Gray is labeled G/Y, which is Green/Yellow. If you trace the wire to it's culmination point it mysteriously turns into Gray. The connector is labeled correctly for Gray. The error is in identifying the wire coming out. It is Gray(Gy) not Green/Yellow(G/Y). Fortunately I have the actual bike so I was able to physically verify this. Notice the connector for the headlight just below that also. I,m almost finished with the color version of this diagram and haven't found any other mistakes yet but this has defininitely put me on the prowl for others. I'm even inserting a red flag in the color version to show corrected mistakes. It's my goal over the next few months to make color versions for all the XJ's(depends on how well my nerves hold up, it's tedious!) so I would GREATLY appreciate everyone who knows of any mistakes for any of the other models to PM me so these can be corrected. Thanks
    Midnight

I stripped back my harness and removed the atari and side stand switch, stripped out a lot of junk remade it with a Koso dash, using the factory diagram and could not fault it. Posted the before and after (modified) diagram in my build thread.

Didn't find a single fault in the factory diagram, and I traced out a lot of circuits.

I would trust it. (750 seca anyways)
