Well I did it I took a substantial amount of wiring off of the bike. I don't have the carbs on it yet. I hooked it all up temporarliy and pushed the start button and the solenoid made a whirring sound, so I got power there. I then crossed the solenoid and the bike cranked over. It is a new solenoid so what would be the reason that it would not crank thru the solenoid?

Whirring is not the normal sound of a solenoid. A solenoid not hooked up to a starter should just click.

The starter switch side of the solenoid grounds that terminal when the starter switch is pressed. If manually grounding that terminal allows the bike to crank, then you've got a problem with your starter switch or its wiring. If manually grounding it results in your whirring sound, then either your new solenoid is bad, or whatever upstream wiring (that normally provides 12V from the safety circuit) you've put in place has a problem.

Whirring mya be the wrong word because it is more of a clunkin noise like the Solenoid is engaging and just does not have enough juice to fire it. I will trace my wires and let you know.

I got it I just had to put a charge on the battery and it cranked right over. Just wanted to give a big Thank You to DWCOPPLE as he has been a great asset to me thru this wiring mess. I am sure I am not done with him yet :)
