saw this on cl needs paint not sure if it needs anything else. I am not really in the market for 1 already have a maxim x 2 rds and a honda. If i do decide on it and their is nothing wrong otherwise might try and get it for about $750.00. The same guy has a 82 gs 1100l 4 valve per cyl chain drive about the same miles for $1200 very rare bike with 4 valve motor and chain drive only year made

4 valve head = GSX doesn't it? (at least for UK models, GS was 2valve GSX 4...)

The XJ looks ok for the money, but then again bikes are cheaper over there than here so I dunno... Gotta be worth a look.

It's just a nomenclature difference. The post '80 GS in the US used the same engine as the GSX elsewhere in the world.

Decided not to get either bike having trouble with the trans in my tow vehicle. 03 mountaineer 4.6 5 speed auto trans is in limp mode and slipping 1st to 2nd started growling like a bad tire. They don't even have a dipstick another better idea. Rebuild 1200-4k ugh with less then 90k never towed anything bigger then a small utility trailer with a 500 lb motorcycle

Is this one of those "sealed for life" boxes that manufacturers were playing with about this time? If so, it might be worth trying to find out the fluid quantity/way of measuring level and changing the fluid before spending on a rebuild or anything.

I don't know with your particular vehicle, but with a lot of the euro cars people have done a lot of researching/testing and come up with ways to change their "sealed" autobox fluid & check the levels so got to be worth a search round some forums/websites to see if anyone has done this with your 'box?
