    I am restoring a XJ900 Seca and on the right side timeing cover I noticed it says DOHC instead of YICS like the others I've seen. The other side says YICS and on the 1982 XJ1100R I just restored it also has YICS on both sides. My question is: is the DOHC correct for some bikes or has it been put by mistake ? Also the YAMAHA on that cover was not filled in, in black and doesn't seem to ever have been ?? I know all other covers have that blacked in. I checked on boats.net's parts page for xj900 and it does not show that part being used on any other model bike (which is handy to find if any part also fits other models). I want this restore to be correct and if this part is wrong I'll need to replace it.

    That's the wrong cover - surprised it fit right.

    I have a spare left cover, center bit only. YAMAHA letters in black.

    The back of my cover says 22N00L

    This cover has those same numbers, I'm thinking that two different covers were used from the factory. As far as I can tell, this cover only fits 1983 XJ 900 SECAs. Thanks for the info.

    I've tried to download pics but it keeps telling me they are too large, will try again tomarrow.

    Take it from a 900-Man.
    When you are restoring a 900; and you need to have a clean Engine Cover, ...
    It dosen't matter it the Cover says:

    D•O•H•C
    ::: or :::
    Y•I•C•S

    Just as long as it:

    F•I•T•S !!!

    DOHC was the standard label put on the XJ900F/N models not available in the US. The side covers are the same, and just use a different stick on label.
