Anyone have a clean set of header pipes for sale? I can clean up minor imperfections like very light rust and dirt but don't want to use steel wool on them as even the fine steel wool will leave a dull finish. I love the chrome! Mine are ok but will need to be Jet hot coated for a nice finish or steel wool for a driver so maybe a partial trade with cash? Pics to ktp1598@insightbb.com

    DON'T

The steel wool on aluminum will break apart like a scotchbrite pad does. Bad thing is when the steel deposits get embedded into the aluminum, which then results in RUST pitting even quicker making your chrome look like $#!%.

Trust me, I'm speaking from experience

Yeah, I don't like to use it unless the part is beyond bringing back to nice. For the most part, I use an all metal polish or a chrome polish. If that can't bring the part back to life I'll usually sell it and look for a better one. I'm really surprised that there are as many nice header pipes as there are. Yamaha did good with their chrome plating.
