Well, my first long trip on my '81 550 Seca, 150 miles; I was worried that I used up 3/4 of a tank for the trip. I in the Pacific Northwest and the trip had 2 mountain passes, the first with an elevation of 3022 feet and the second (45 minutes later) 1105 feet.
I used 3/4 of fuel, is that level of consumption normal or do I need to adjust something along the line? :?

Thank you everyone for your feedback

Sounds pretty good to me, 241km to 3/4 a 550 tank.

I get 250km to reserve on my 750 Seca.

seca is what a 4 gallon tank that would put you in the 50 mpg range which is pretty good

Start keeping track of the odo mileage and the amount of gas you put in; two or three fill-ups will give you a good average. See what you're actually getting. My 550 Secas usually get between 50~56mpg; generally right around 52.

Mileage 147, 2 mountain passes; average speed up the passes: 63mph; I refilled the tank after 100 miles, tank was half full, end of the trip, tank was about 5/8 full.
That means around 3.5 gallons for the trip, actually not bad considering going up hill.

Thank you for all your responses, much appreciated 8)
