the factory does use crimps like that, but those look messy.goes to

the blue/white wire goes to solinoid(starterswitch) diode block, and starter button
wiring diagram implies a 3 way split as you have. in main harness

Dark green runs from front blinker to meter connector to turn selector to rear blinker. may be another split oon it

    brown to many to count

If you solder them make sure you use a stiff sealed heatshrink to stop corrosion and snapping cores - its more common than you'd think. I honestly prefer the simple crimp, its no wonder the factories all? Do it this way.

Eh? Why not, it's no different to the others? Is it, or have I just not looked too closely?

The multiple brown wires crimped together appears to be the internal "split" that powers the 3 circuits in the fusebox (except the MAIN fuse).....one of the thick brown wires comes from the key switch, and it then "splits" into 3 separate wires for each fuse circuit "input"

if that is a factory crimp it must have been done on a friday or monday. it is poorly done, excessive wire exposed and some wire strands that did not make the crimp.
If I found that on a harness I would redo the crimp.

You'd better start stripping your harness then, sure you'll find more like that.

That actually looks like one of the better ones that I've seen on these harnesses.............
