xj n600 n oil seal fitting (1996 ) uk model

hi can someone advise me is it possible to replace the right hand outer crank oil seal without stripping the engine as mine started leaking and have now removed it but the new one has a lip and wont fit ,

No way unless you find a seal without a lip. Or do it correctly and do the starter clutch, chain and guide that are notorious problem while you are in there.

 

you should be able to find a seal without a lip, but you may have to troll around the seal shops to find one , plenty of those shops around the Shefield area.
how did you get the old one out if it has a lip, did you destroy it?. as you will need the measurements embossed on the seal to get a new one , then cement it in.
not aware of any starter clutch issues with a 1996 (diversion) model

 

I got a seal without a lip for my 900f. Perhaps they have one for your bike. Motorcycle products they are called.

hmmmm. just looked at the crankcase drawing ,on Fowler Parts, there appears to be what they call a "plug" and then a "blind plug"
did you have to take two plug/seals, out,
