Sometimes the chain links are stamped with the size number

    It's a 530 X 104 links.

Be sure to replace the sprockets as well, or the new chain will just get chewed up. You can't see worn sprockets until they're really seriously worn.

To check: Grasp the pin of a chain link at the 3:00 position on the rear sprocket, and pull it straight rearward as in the diagram below. If you expose more than 1/2 of the adjacent sprocket teeth, the sprocket is worn out and needs to be replaced. It's prudent to treat the chain and sprockets as a set and always replace them together. They'll last longer.

    You're welcome.

Here's another handy tid-bit, picked up after a few thousand miles on these 550s: the book says to adjust the chain to 35mm~40mm slack. I've found that to be a tad tight. Run it at 40mm~45mm instead, and it will hold adjustment longer. After an initial adjustment with a new chain and sprockets after around 600 miles, my adjustment interval is around 1100~1200 miles now; for both bikes.

If you use a standard, non o-ring chain as I do, I highly recommend PJ1 Blue Label. Most "dirt bike" shops carry it.

im actually going to spiegler performance they custom cut chains there. they sell a dyna chain, the same ones he runs on his sport bikes that he races. i think it said the 530 is rated at like 10,000 tensile strength....def dont want to skimp out on a chain where it can ruin a whole motor
