xj550 double calipers, changing brake lines.

    Hi!

    Just wanted some input, I'm changing the brake lines on my xj550 to some new stainless braided ones, but I was thinking, original there is three lines, one from the MC down do an L-shaped splitter and then two line to each caliper.

    I've read that it's better (or as good as) to just add a double banjo up on the MC and run two lines directly from there down to the calipers.


    Obviously I could just buy a kit and hook up the L-shaped splitter again, but I have the clubmab-bars on and the length on the first line is now shorter and I have also lowered the headlight a smudge and this blocks the original mount to the splitter, so Either I'll get a new splitter that is smaller and won't need to be mounted at all or not at least in the same position.


    How would the different approaches affect the brakes?

    2 direct lines would work fine, you would need to work out some clamping arrangement to make the lines look neat.

    Wiz is right; there would be no effect on functionality. The brake junction block was more a concession to manufacturing flexibility than anything else.
