Not yours, is it? (Didn't think so.)

Seller says he repairs motorcycles for $40 an hour. And he apparently at least understands the concept of "compression."

But there's a big difference between sticking your finger in a spark plug hole and doing a real compression test.

If that motor blows good numbers (100psi minimum, 121 "std" and 135 max for a 550) and they're within 10psi of each other it's an absolute STEAL for $75 despite how raggedy it looks. If the guts are sound, the cosmetics can be remediated.

Go check it out, if it's solid then buy it and re-sell it for 2X what you paid. If it makes good compression then $150 is still a steal. You'll need a 12mm adapter for your compression gauge.

I'm betting Mr. $40/hr "motorcycle mechanic" doesn't own a compression tester.

That motor has been for sale for several years now. I really do not think its much good. The guy is a wheeler dealer. I have had dealings with him before. I think i posted it several years ago. I just looked at the pic again years with no plugs in it not good

All it's missing is a fingertip over half the lens

Don't think I'd pay $7.50 let alone $75 for it anyway if it's been for sale for years & possibly without plugs for the same...

I don't doubt it has compression though... As Dave says, 2psi... and on the one cylinder... Seriously though, if it's local to anyone it maybe worth seeing if he'll take a lowball & then either keep for spares or strip it & sell any decent parts
