Hey all! I got a 1982 xj550 im eventually turning onto a bobber build. For kicks i decided to pull the stock slip on mufflers off and i thought it sounded pretty good! Was thinking of just pulling off the stock slip ons and run it just like that. Would i need to re-jet the carbs for that kind of flow? Forgive my rookie-ness. New to the carb world as this is my first build and carbbed bike. Figured someone with better knowledge than me could chime in. Thanks!

if you want to make noise just go straight header pipes.
    Maxim or seca?

what shape is your current exhaust in?
would consider trading my mac 4 to 1 for a stock system

Maxim. Sorry i should of put that on there. Both sets of stock exhaust i have are not the best of condition. More or less just dont want to re-jet anything. Still need to do valve clearance check which has 26k on the odometer and assume its never had one and the carbs rebuilt. Just got it started and having issues with it staying started just had the slip ons off and liked the way it sounded. Lots of work to do haha.

Everything is staying stock as for now until i can getting running right then pulling stock slip ons off is about all the engine mods id like to do. The rest is cosmetic.
