XJ550 Seca Tail Light Mod?

    I'm putting an '82 Seca back together and would like to swap out the large tail light lens for something a bit more flush and smaller, while keeping the tail cowl. Can anyone point me to some pics or share their "how to's?"

    I'm not sure that many people have done that. My best advice is to find a taillight that you like the looks of, get a spare taillight housing, and go to town fabricating. The factory housing provides support for the rear of the tail cowl.

    Saw a lovely modded 550 in Practical Sportbike a couple of years back that had the rear light from an early R1 - looked cool.

    That is nice. It appears he managed to keep the air box even with the mono-shock conversion.

    Yes, I must read the article again (should have it somewhere..) IIRC he used a Thundercat swinging arm. I have a 'spare frame' myself and have been intending to mock up a monoshock.. ..one day.
