    Hello,

Today my xj decided to breakdown. When I push starter button all I can hear is relay buzzing. Battery is full bike starts fine when bump starting. I tried to click button when engine was idling in neutral and lights dimmed and engine stopped. So I think starter motor is shorting or something. Am I right?

Better checking the solenoid before the starter motor. Check the voltage of your battery under load. Voltmeter set to 20 volts DC hold the terminals on the battery posts and get someone to press the starter button. It must not drop below 10 volts or the plugs won't spark. Turn on the ignition and bridge the two contacts on the starter solenoid with a screwdriver to see if it starts. Starting fine when bump starting is also because the battery is not turning the starter so your ignition system is working. Try another battery from a car with the engine off and jump leads to see what happens if you can.

Battery is fine. It starts my FJ1200 just checked. Also I bought it 6 weaks ago. Today my xj600 relay buzzed, I preased button again and it cranked with starter motor and fired up. When I arrived at the office I tried again to check if the problem was gone but relay just buzzed

    Wiring fault or faulty relay?

See if you can bypass the starter relay with something. This can be dangerous and if you do it like I do it, things will get hot quick. But if you so this test, you will see if not only the battery is weak but if the relay or starter is bad. Do this if you only feel comfortable doing it.

What @Timbox said above. What us cavemen do to do this is to take an old screwdriver you don't care much about and short the big terminals on the starter solenoid to see if the starter turns. This will make a pretty big spark and a hole in the unloved screwdriver generally. Bigger spark and bigger hole if the problem is the starter dragging or being not good. If it is the solenoid the spark will not be quite as big. Some folks use 1 leg of a jumper cable from the positive battery terminal to the starter lug. Still makes a pretty good spark. Remember to make sure the bike is in neutral so that it doesn't jump away from you and hurt itself as all the safety interlocks will be bypassed.

Problem solved. It was a bad starter relay. More precisely it was corroded on terminals, so maybe cleaning it would be a viable fix but I already bought new one so I didn't bother.

Good trouble shooting. Lots more of that will come with time. These old bikes are great and if you ride them often, they will stay running for a long time.
