There is an XJ600 gas tank listed on Ebay and the seller has it listed for XJ650/XJ900. After looking closely the tank is very similar to the 900 tank. Does anyone know if they are interchangeable? This could open up many more resources.

Actually, that is an FJ600 tank and while they visually look the same the 600 tank is not as long as a 900 tank.

Hey all, I have an 84 750 RL with a 900 tank on it. It is rough...Is there a way to use an FJ600 tank?

The 900rk and the 750rl are interchangeable as they are basically the same bike. The fj600 tank LOOKS the same but dimensions are different and is NOT a bolt on swap..

It is possible to swap any tank... All you need is $$.

There is already plenty of info regarding tanks here on the forums. Do your homework, search for tank swaps, interchangeability, etc...... And READ

Since you're new, and you don't know the answers, yes-it is necessary.

The fj600 tank is similar to the 750rl/900rk tank and from a distance may look almost the same. But, they are not. The XJ600 tank is completely different, and doesn't even remotely resemble the above-mentioned tanks, other than it being a fuel tank

Here are some examples of what is here for you to search for---

    http://xjbikes.com/forums/threads/first-bike-a-good-find.65852/#post-463292

Etc...... There are other threads around, too- you need to search, ask (as you did) but be ready for people to supply you with links to read, as well as simply answers to read.

Also, here's More for you to read, too--

There are a couple of tank swap threads out there, but I don't recall if the author covered the 600. That bike is not so common at this forum. Do a Gurgle search for "site: xjbikes tank swap". That search engine does a better job than the one on the forum.

To all members that may not know: There are two XJ models...Seca and Maxim. This thread is discussing the Seca model.

my battery sensor is fine its my fuel sensor that seems to be acting up. im pretty sure the fuel level senor in the new tank is bust but i dont see how that should affect the flow of fuel to the engine and there for make the bike run so poorly?
Yeah.... I JUST realized that error and came back to edit--- you beat me to it. Lol My bad.

The FUEL level sensor only tells the conputer/light that is should come on. It doesn't have anything to do with the bike running.

If you were doing something with the speedo m, I'd first look around there and see if you disconnected something, or reconnected something wrong.

ya thats what i assumed i did reconnect the speedo and the bike was running perfectly again. why taking off the speedo makes the engine run poorly im still lost on. but assuming its connected properly cause it was running fine. had to replace the tank due to a leak in the old one and found a parts bike with a decent tank cleaned the inside and hooked it up using the same hoses and connectors as off the previous one and its backfiring and dieing as soon as i give it some throttle. it feels like it did when i had taken the speedo completely off so i assumed it as the same problem some kind f sensor but if you have any suggestions im at your mercy. thanks agiain
Are yuo just disconnecting the speedometer able, or are you removing the whole cluster?
The XJ750 has the systems monitor, which requires some rewiring to remove the whole cluster and still have the bike run right.
Here's the wiring mods to remove the rectangular instruments

I did that it works a bit better I just noticed that the new cap I put know the tank doesn't close all the way I guess the problem is the suction?

Make note of the pencil marks. They show what wires need to be joined together after removing the instrument cluster.

Agreed but even with all the similarities the the FJ is not a XJ. I was trying to clear any confusion regarding the Seca and Maxim which also are different when it comes to tank swapping.

The sEca 900 tank has a 22 litre capacity and I think the FJ600 holds only 18 litres.
