XJ650 Maxim for sale in Kansas City

I have just purchased a Victory, so it's time to say goodbye to my old friend, the XJ650 Maxim. :?

Everyone here has been fantastic, and provided a wealth of information which I've used to get/keep the bike going. Because of this, I've decided to give XJ'ers first crack at it.

I will be advertising it soon for $1200, but will sell it for $1000 here, if anyone's interested.

I have had tis bike for about a year, and it has performed great, and gotten me back to riding regularly. Older (last spring) pictures are in the photo gallery under my name (xcowboykc); I will try to take more today and post them if there is any interest.

Here's the current scoop about the bke:
The GOOD ;
1. New windshield last spring - National Cycle Plexifairing, their largest.
2. Foam Grips added last summer.
3. New Clutch Cable
4. Saddlebags (in pictures)
5. 2-piece engine guard with highway pegs.
6. Yamaha Eagle sissy bar and pad. The sissy bar was from an XS850 and modified to fit - looks great! The pad is cracked, and not much, but functional. The original Maxim grab bar also comes with the bike.
7. All lights/electronics working well and in good contition.
8. About 40K miles, and runs great. 48-50 mpg w/o the windshield, 42-45 with.
The CONDITION:
1. A few small paint chips in the gas tank (still original paint).
2. Some dents/scrapes on the muffler. It was knocked off last summer when I ran over a deer, and is no longer a thing of beauty.
3. Cracked speedometer housing.
4. Missing right side cover over the battery. I know where a replacement is available for $35.
5. The Speedometer quit last Nov. I will put on a new cable today and see if that fixes it, but.... The Tachometer works great (70 mph at 5000 rpms).
6. The rear brake is getting thin and needs replaced, but all brakes are working well.
7. Tires are fair. 6K on the rear (all in the last 10 months) and ?? on the front. Should be OK for a while.
8. Due for an oil change.
